The Center for Socio-Human Research continues the activity of the Center for Social, Administrative, and Public Opinion Polling Research, established in 2000. Its mission is to develop research in the humanities and social sciences, stimulate high-performance research activities among teaching staff, master’s students, and doctoral students, and disseminate research through specialized journals and professional training activities.

CSU promotes creativity and partnerships with universities and specialized institutions at national and international levels.

CENTER DIRECTOR

Associate Professor Dr. Bențe Cristian

Objectives

1. Development of research in the humanities and social sciences.

2. Stimulation of high-performance research activities among university teaching staff and master’s students.

3. Implementation of research projects won in the field of socio-human sciences.

4. Dissemination of research through specialized journals and professional training and development activities.

History of the Center

At the end of March 2004, the Center for Jewish Studies was opened, as part of the Institute for Studies and Research “Vasile Goldiș”. It was the first center for Jewish studies established within a private educational institution in Romania.

The establishment of the Center responded to significant shifts in collective mindsets in the contemporary era—a new convergence between Judaism and Christianity, embraced by the major Churches of the world, and the need to reassess Jewish culture in the context of recognizing the breadth of the history of the Jewish people.

The opening was honored by the presence of H.E. Rodica Radian Gordon, Ambassador of the State of Israel to Romania, the Rector, Prof. Dr. Aurel Ardelean, the presidents of the Jewish Communities in the western part of the country, as well as representatives of the academic community and local authorities.

The Center’s initiative also aligns with the Ministry of Education’s tendency to support research focused on crucial topics of contemporary history, including the study of the Holocaust.

Mission. The Centre provides a framework for strengthening and facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration in the field of bioethics by designing and implementing research initiatives based on ethical issues arising from modern aspects of science and from social issues analysed through postmodern paradigms in the social and human sciences.

Purpose. We act as a contact centre for bioethical issues and provide an optimal framework for researchers, academic staff, and students who wish to collaborate on research and educational projects—at local, regional, national, and international level—in partnership with research centres and specialised institutions worldwide.
